One of the most notable changes for the 1999 Corvette was the addition of a fixed roof coupe. This was the first true hardtop for the Corvette lineup since 1967. Also available were the convertible and removable hard top Sports Coupe.

Since it’s complete redesign in 1997 the C5 generation Corvette was busy winning over the buying public and automotive media alike. Car & Driver Magazine ranked it as one of the top 10 best cars and said the Corvette possessed, “a stellar blend of value, performance, practicality and extroverted personality.”

1999-2000 Corvette History

The fixed roof coupe (hardtop) was designed to target the budget performance car market with its starting price of under $39,000. And it was indeed a bargain performer. Compared to all the foreign sports cars in the same class the Corvettes for sale offered great bang for the buck. Top speeds of around 170 MPH and 0-60 MPH times of sub 5.0 seconds were made possible by the amazing LS1 engine; a 16 valve 5.7 L aluminum power plant pumping out 345 horsepower and 350 ft lbs of torque. Driver input came in the form of either a 6 speed manual transmission or a 4 speed automatic with overdrive.
